The Sams Clinic is the only private practice surgical clinic in California with a board certified anesthesiologist on staff. Working closely with our orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hawley oversees patient safety and comfort, before, during and after surgery. Vital signs are monitored using a variety of techniques including electrocardiograms (EKG or ECG) and pulse oximetry (the oxygen saturation of blood), keeping a constant eye on oxygen levels, blood pressure, body temperature and the depth of anesthesia to ensure the patient’s safety.
